Nine Thoughts to Ponder

To what extent do you agree with these 9 statements?

1. I have brand new technology in my classroom. Therefore, I should use it every day.
2. Incorporating technology into my classroom is a simple task.

4. Technology is all the fancy gadgets that I have in my classroom.
5. Technology engages students in learning.
6. Technology gives students a voice in the classroom.
7. Using technology in the classroom will transform my teaching.
8. I have to use technology to help students be comfortable learning new things.
9. Technology makes learning fun.

Final Project!!!

Kevin's Keys for the Final Project

1. Make sure your strategies are verbs. "Group project" as a strategy is vague and contains many components.
2. Make sure you use key words in each cell. The purpose of the matrix is not to cram loads of text into one box. When you abbreviate things, you make it easy to read and understand.
3. Your blog entry should be a narrative to your spreadsheet.
4. For this project, assume you can have training in whatever technology you would like to use.

Interactivity #5

Kevin’s Keys for Interactivity #5

1. Do not manufacture the interview. If it’s fiction, we will find out! Plus, interviewing a teacher in the field will be beneficial beyond the requirements of the assignment.

2. It may be common for teachers not to have an idea about this concept. That’s ok. Just report back the facts, and you should be fine.

3. Ask questions earlier, rather than later!

Interactivity #4

Kevin's Keys for Interactivity #4

1. Make sure you clearly note exactly what you have changed/modified from the original lesson plan.
2. It's ok to select a lesson plan with gaps.
3. Please provide the link to the original lesson plan.

Keep working hard!

Interactivity #3

Kevin's Keys for Interactivity #3

1. If you haven't heard from your group members, make sure to start a spreadsheet yourself. Also, make sure you share the document with your group members, Dr. Domine, and me.
Then, you can make your contributions to the spreadsheet and your work is done.

2. Make sure that someone in your group has not already created a spreadsheet. If they haven't shared that spreadsheet with you, then you won't know what's going on.

3. Make sure you sign in before you enter information on the spreadsheet!! If we don't know it's you that wrote something, we can't give you a grade for this assignment.

4. Make sure you contribute at least 10 technologies with corresponding URLs.

9-3-1 Means pass, Pass, PASS

In CURR 316, the 9-3-1 formula is a guaranteed way to pass the online participation part of the course. Let's dive into the meaning of each component:

9----- Read a minimum of nine other classmates' blogs each week.

3----- Comment on a minimum of three of your classmates' blogs each week. Make a substantial contribution to the discussion that relates to the course content and are additive or transformative to the larger discussion. Do not simply reply, "Nice going, Bob. I completely agree with you on this point."

1----- Post 1 new entry to your blog each week for a total of 15 posts. Interactivities count here, so your math should look like this: 15 = 6 Interactivities (Including the Final Project) + 9 course related posts. Check out this blog for a good example of a "course related post".

So, there you have it. 9-3-1 is the formula to pass, Pass, PASS!

Interactivity #2. All that the blog post should contain is the image and caption. That's it. No narrative.

Kevin's Keys for Interactivity #2

1. Follow the Rubric Road on your path to a 10!

--Choice of technology (grounded in historical data contained in the assigned readings ) (3 pts)

Your online participation for the week can be deliberating with other group members about what you have chosen for your technology.

--Graphic representation of technological impact of schooling in your subject area (3 pts)

You can create your own graphic or download any image from the web (including copyrighted) as long as you attribute the source (name/organization and direct hyperlink to the image source). If it's your original creation, you don't have to cite a source. If you know how to use photo-editing software, please feel free to manipulate your image/graphic; but that's not a requirement. Also, make sure you take a stance on the impact of the technology-positive/negative or elements of both. Make sure your image makes a clear statement.

--Contribution of text/caption to the overall meaning of your message (3 pts)

The text should not restate what the image already says. The text should contribute substantially so that the overall meaning could not be achieved without the combination of text and image. Feel free to look at other Interactivity #2 posts for inspiration.

--Successful upload of image and caption as a blog post (1 pt)

2. Make sure you have all of your questions answered by this Monday to ensure you have enough time to complete the activity!
